A delegation from the Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers (ANFAC) has visited the Port of Valencia.
During the meeting, which was attended by Mar Chao, commercial director and business development of Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia (APV – Valenciaport, Port Authority of Valencia), ANFAC representatives viewed the new accesses to the existing facilities in the Valencian port for automobiles.
The Spanish Port of Valencia overtook this March the Port of Barcelona in terms of total vehicle numbers handled in 2018, according to Spain’s National Ports Authority (Puertos del Estado).
Together with Sagunto and Gandia ports, Port of Valencia handled more than 818,000 vehicles, a 3% increase on the previous year. Barcelona, meanwhile, experienced a corresponding 3% drop to just over 809,000.
Overall, Spain’s vehicle handling ports processed around 3.4m units in 2018, a 2.5% decrease on 2017 that Puertos del Estado attributes to a market downturn in importing countries.
