Spain’s government to approve participation in Valencia port logistics project

Spain’s central government plans to approve its participation in the construction of the Intermodal and Logistics Platform of Font de Sant Lluís in Valencia.

Under the project, Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia (APV – Valenciaport, Port Authority of Valencia), railway infrastructure operator Adif, the Valencia regional government and Spain’s Public Works Ministry, will provide a total financing of €67m ($75.8m).

The agreement “instrumentalises the necessary inter-administrative cooperation for the construction of an intermodal platform that aspires to become one of the most important in Spain thanks to its close link with the Mediterranean corridor and its integration into the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T)”, Valencia port said.

The commissioning of the terminal will boost the railway mode of transport for which the port of Valencia has been relying in recent years, both for its positive environmental effects and the potential for expansion it allows for the hinterland of the port in Spain.
