The sixth ECG Academy Alumni Meeting took place this year on 21-22 February once more in the beautiful Spanish city of Barcelona. The event proved to be as usual very well-attended with around 90 people including the students of the ECG Academy Course 13.
The meeting coincided with Module 3 of the ECG Academy Course – the management and leadership studies that lead to a Certificate in Automobile Logistics Management. The course which takes place over 24 days is split into 5 modules at different locations in Europe, allowing the development of leadership skills and knowledge, but also hands-on site visits to manufacturing plants and logistics facilities.
The ECG board, which also met in Barcelona during the event, joined for the first time the current students for the workshop entitled Innovation Lab for Future Challenges. In a 2-hour working session, the ECG board members shared their experience and advised the students on their innovative projects proposals resulting in a fruitful and constructive learning experience.
The students then put into practice in Barcelona what they learned so far and presented their innovative ideas on different topics to the Alumni of the ECG Academy from the previous years. In addition, distinguished guest speakers from the industry and academia gave some stimulating presentations about the several challenges that the fast-paced technological developments present to the sector. Speakers covered several topics including a straightforward lecture on blockchain (Hilke Steffens, KPMG), an engaging presentation on the future of the current logistics model (Javier Beltran, GEFCO 4PL) and on electric vehicle logistics (Carlos Giner, GEFCO 4PL), as well as some tips on how to achieve work-life balance (Markus Happersberger, KPMG).
The unique setting of the event provided Alumni with the opportunity not only to catch-up with old friends and colleagues, but also to meet with the next generation of future leaders in vehicle logistics. Based on the continuously increasing success of the meeting, ECG plans to organise it again at the same venue at the same time next year.
